What do you believe are the greatest transportation challenges facing the City of Chicago right now?
Chicago continues to grow and demand for mass transportation requires faster services with clean trains and busses on time. We have a very antiquated system that needs modernization.
Safety in public transportation it is needed as well. A video supervision on platforms with voice activate deterrence will help reduce or avoid attacks on public transportation users.
We need more economical busses that save fuel consumption and are more greener in energy to save the environment.
Do you or members of your family regularly use sidewalks, bike, take transit, drive, or a combination of any/all to get around? Does this correspond with your preferred/ideal modes of getting around? If not, what barriers do you and your family face in using your preferred mode of transportation?
Rush hour is a burden on my own car or bus, so we try to move on light traffic to make it to our destination. On waiting times just enjoy the entertaining atmosphere by public artist on the subway in downtown Chicago.
Can you share a personal experience that changed your opinion about a transportation related policy matter?
We regularly take public transportation to work every day. High traffic in rush hour slow our moving time on the bus. We just leave early to make on time to our destination. Dirty buses and trains is an issue and safety. Never experience a break down in public transportation. During snow storms buses are very much warm places to be, even homeless people find public transportation as a shelter to the brutal winters of Chicago.
Chicago is a snowy city, and even one stretch of uncleared sidewalk can make it impassable – particularly for folks with disabilities, the elderly, and parents with young children. What is your position on implementing a universal city-wide sidewalk snow/ice removal service?
Street and sanitation are in charge of cleaning the main roads, Then the streets in between. The best way to solve this is to have an educated city with the importance of cleaning the side walls for the blind and persons on wheel chairs. Seniors are suffering as well many of them fall and break bones. Any add labor will cost money. If I see snow on my next store neighbor I clean it.
It is now widely recognized and understood that interstate highways were used to physically divide urban communities from one another – often along racial and class lines. How do you propose we overcome these divisions to restore the urban fabric of Chicago and reconnect our segregated neighborhoods?
During my petition Drive I discovered discrimination from specific group of people. I almost pull out of the race. It was disgusting to hear this hateful behavior in my community but decided to stick around and do something about it. Even the current Alderman opposes people of the LGBTQ community.
We need more love and less hate.
What role do you believe transportation plays in Chicago’s collective greenhouse gas emissions, climate responsibility, and overall environmental health?
As an Alderman a greener city is healthier for all of us. Garbage reduction and cleaner streets will be my focus to beautiful ward. Every day we put tons of waste on containers creating a large volume of garbage disposal. Technology can help reduce our volume for easier loading and transportation. This will create less fuel consumption and less trips to the land fields. We have a plan for this.
What is your position on the Illinois Department of Transportation’s current proposals for rebuilding North DuSable Lake Shore Drive? Do you believe the proposed designs will reduce congestion, improve transit access and make pedestrians and cyclists safer? How do you think the current proposals will impact access to the lakefront?
A city planning with input from the CD public and tourists in mind to enhance beauty for visitors and residents is the way to go. Chicago continues to built high rises buildings on the east side of Chicago and growing west and southern west of the west coast
What barriers do you believe the Illinois Department of Transportation presents to Chicago pursuing better safe streets design standards and transit investments? How do you plan to work with City Council, the Governor, and State legislators to overcome these barriers?
Drivers survey is the best answer to any road and congestions problems. Truckers need to bypass our cities to improve congestions in a growing environment and density cities. Voters should have the final input as to what is best for them base on spending taxpayers money. A big part of the money comes from fuel tax on motorists. Therefore they should have the final say so not the politicians.
The 99-year parking meter deal enacted by former Mayor Richard M. Daley has been a barrier to enacting safe street designs by privatizing large portions of Chicago’s streets. What is your plan to address this?
One way would be to buy it back and put the profits of 300000.00 millions back to the community and not in Dubai. This money is annually in 99 years we are talking billions of dollars out of Chicago. This is a sweet deal for career politicians. A bad deal for taxpayers in Chicago.
Studies show us that speed and distracted driving kill. What do you think are the most effective ways to reduce driver speed and increase safe driving behavior?
Education and prevention. Slow down or pay a higher fine.
What is your position on the City passing ordinances that attempt to regulate the size, weight, and/or safety features of personal and private vehicles?
Over weights trucks destroy city roads and breaks under ground pipes. But will not support ordinances for personal vehicles.
What is your position on establishing a dedicated funding stream for safe and universal pedestrian and bike infrastructure in Chicago?
Safety is a must have in our city for bikers and pedestrians. I will support funding for safety and save lives in our roads.
What is your position on creating select pedestrian-only streets?
If it will save lives and speed up human congestion. I will supported it!
What policy solutions would you implement to ensure CTA buses operate on schedule, frequently, and quickly?
Use technology to connect efficiently buses and riders. Keeping Inform everyone even if there is a break down. Improve maintenance and hired more professional Mechanics to be on top of schedule maintenance to avoid break downs.
Considering the role the CTA, Metra, and Pace play in providing public transportation within the city, what are your plans to address the impending fiscal cliff – a deficit of over $700 million – that the agencies will be facing in 2025?
As much as this hurt 2 things we must do reduce the deficit or raised the fare. One alternative will be to replace fuel buses for electric cars to save fuel cost and maintenance.
What is your position on establishing a network of Bus Rapid Transit lines in Chicago?
It would be a great idea to transport massive crowds in shorter time. Chicago is growing and need to think about the future.
Will you commit to securing the funding necessary to implement CTA's plan to become 100% accessible according to ADA standards? (yes/no)
Yes
